If you are reading this post before Jan 11 then be sure to head over and check out the rest of the posts on Jan 11th here.

So not to throw everyone a complete curve ball but my favorite spot to farm atm will have you going back to Wrath content. On my server the cost to make a Frostweave Bag has finally caught back up with the new price. As of this post bags are still selling for 150g to 170g each on my server and I can easily sell 20 a day with minimal reposting. The Problem as most know from Wrath is that to make one bag I need 3 stacks of Frostweave Cloth and 12 Infinite Dust. Infinite Dust is still very easy to come by but the Frostweave Cloth is starting to become scarce and what is on the AH is priced at 40g a stack. (This pricing issue is heavily server dependent.)

To remedy this I started making a few trips over to Northrend asking in area chat if anyone wanted to sell me Frostweave Cloth. This works but I got other offers while I was searching for cloth. I was offered 200g a run to run someone through Utgarde Pinnacle.

Long Story short I walked out of that first run with 7 stacks of cloth and about 20g richer from mobs. After a second run in which I obtained another 7 stacks and about 20g my friend called it quits and left. I then ran it twice more Averaging 7stacks of cloth a run and picking up my own drops I averaged 7 greens and 85g in gold and vendor trash.

Now I was doing these runs on my Tailor and so Northrend scavenging was active. Also I'm sure many others could point out better spots to farm cloth but this instance provided 2 things essential to keep me interested. The first is no competition. Only an instance can truly provide this as anywhere profitable to farm will eventually attract others. The second is some form of challenge. Utgarde Pinnacle proved to be a challenge at points and when it got to easy I would increase the size of the pull to increase the challenge. Now a plate class may find it no challenge at all but as a Frost Mage I can be quickly overwhelmed if I do not keep control of the group I'm fighting. All in all I Averaged 87g in vendor trash, 6-7 greens to DE, and 7.5 stacks of cloth. With the lowest amount I've pulled out being 6 stacks and the highest being 10 and a half.

Now this spot may not provide the greatest gold per hour potential but it provided me both a measurable benefit gold wise and challenge/fun wise. I've since started looking at other Wrath dungeons for another challenge but have yet to find one as fun or as profitable. I know I have been a bit long winded in this post but my main point is mindless farming is annoying to do and quite frankly is hated by a lot of people. If you are one of those people perhaps you could do something similar to this and even if it isn't the most efficient solution to your problem other things like the challenge may prove to make the trip more valuable overall.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-23039148486951011642010-12-30T12:33:00.000-08:002010-12-30T12:36:10.895-08:00Lets take a small step back.Okay so Cataclysm is in full swing and many auctioneers have their focus on making gold with all the new materials and craftables. Even the ones who stockpiled Wrath materials to sell for profit in Cataclysm are missing a great opportunity to cash in on. With material prices still high many players are turning the clock back to Wrath in order to achieve as many skill ups as possible. This gives us a great opportunity to grab some quick profit.

My server currently has a price of saronite bars priced around 150g and ore priced around 20g. Also there are 3 to 4 pages of ore but only 1 page of bars up. While this price difference would normally be quick to right itself with all the focus still being on Cataclysm and only a few people actively trading in Wrath materials at this point has left us with this opening to take advantage of. Now personally I am using my cheap stockpile of Saronite ore and in small batches turning them into bars and then selling them in stacks of both 5 and 10. I was able to obtain my saronite ore at less than 12.5g a stack and so if it does fail to sell I could vendor it for only a very minor loss of my AH deposit cost.

Other items I have found many people ignore completely now are as follows. Frozen Orbs, Cobalt Bars, Crystallized Earth, Bloodstone, Chalcedony, Huge Citrine, and Sun Crystals.

No one wants to take that "long" trip back to Dalaran to make a visit to Frozo the Renowned and so when people clean out alts they are putting these on the auction house at record lows. While at the same time Eternals are still holding value and sell even if they are selling at a reduced rate. They still sell often enough to make a good deal off trading the orbs in.

Just like saronite, cobalt has proved to continue being a good option for a quick flip. Lots of ore seems to go up daily and yet the number of bars stays low. I have been buying more cobalt than I care to try and flip at once and so I started making Cobalt tanking sets again. I don't sell near the number of pieces I was just before the Cataclysm drop but combined with the rise in price on them I'm making about the same gold per week for the 5 to 7 min I actually deal with them.

The last several many of you may recognize. These are needed to make the cheap necks and rings many people used to profit off of using the saronite shuffle. You still need to make these to level jewel crafting from 350 to 400 and can still use them after for a bit. With the gems you either need to already have them stockpiled or you can prospect some cheap saronite. As for the crystallized earth all you need to do is buy out some eternal earth if it is low enough.

As you can see nothing here is a new idea. Also over time these markets will become slower and more competition will try and move in. However those of us who started with a wide eye on the auction house are able to supply a market many people have abandoned and will continue to overlook until much later in the expansion. I'm not saying to dump entire stockpiles now but don't hesitate to take advantage of these opportunities.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-86881234337198551182010-12-26T14:19:00.000-08:002010-12-26T14:21:35.841-08:00Squeezing All The Juice Out of The Feast of Winter VeilBy now you have sold small eggs and possibly sold milk and cookies as well. If you have a tailor or leather worker you had the opportunity to make parts of the Winter Garb set and profit off them. Now, however, you find the gold you made at the start of this holiday is all but a trickle of its former self. Also with Christmas yesterday and continuing family gatherings through New Years many of us find little time to escape from our families long enough to play WoW for any long stretch of time. So what should I be doing with my limited time on the auction house? Invest!

The Winter Veil presents present us with a huge opportunity. There are several recipes and pets of which are only obtainable during this time of year. The recipes do have a couple opportunities to be found but the companion pets are where the real gold is made from this part of the holiday. Each toon lvl 20 or above is able to loot 1 Gaily Wrapped Present from under the Winter Veil Tree. This will contain one of four pets. The Green Helper Box, Red Helper Box, Jingling Bell, or the Snowman Kit. These can be traded and so many players who do not care to collect such items will throw them onto the AH for a quick buck. What they fail to realize is that holding onto them for just a few months will cause them to appreciate in value anywhere from 100g to 500g a piece depending on the server.

Currently I am snapping up any that are posted below 50g and I have obtained quite a few for 15g or under. My reasoning for setting my snatch price low is that the price may not recover as high this year as a lot of toons have most of these pets from last year and at the same time there are more players playing the AH now than last year. I still know that these pets will go up in price the only issue is as to how far they will go up.

Also you should still be on the look out for the recipes that are only available this time of year. There are of course the vendor patterns Red Winter Clothes, Green Winter Clothes, and Winter Boots. Stocking up on these will bring in a little gold through out the year, with better success if you focus on the clothing pattern from the opposing faction. Then there is Preserved Holly. I failed to stock up last time but had great success of flipping this item. People get bored and look for little things to have fun with in the game. Thats what makes these such a hit. You also should be on the lookout for the items that come out of the Smokywood Pastures Special Gift and the Ticking Present.

Most of the items you want to look for can be obtained from both. There are however 2 that can only be obtained from the Special Gift and requires the Winter Veil quest chain completed to obtain it. These two are Pattern: Gloves of the Greatfather and Formula: Enchant Weapon - Winter's Might. While every item will sell all be it slowly you will see a higher number of the others on the AH and thus prices will stay fairly low on most of them. These two however will rise higher in price as their supply will diminish more quickly.

So if your finding yourself with minimal play time until after the new year the least you could be doing is investing in these items that will provide a nice added income throughout the year.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-36851085251970355192010-12-22T21:52:00.000-08:002010-12-22T21:52:53.292-08:00Good time to be an AlchemistWell a good number of people are 85 and many of them have met the ilvl for heroics. However a lot of these people are finding that they have trouble running said heroics. These people have turned to getting every edge they can. Enchants are selling well but everyone and their mother is an enchanter. While there are a high number of Alchemists as well with mat prices as high as they are many people refuse to make items even if they can make a profit. Yet there are many consumables people are seeking out to make themselves for effective.

Tanks have found at times popping defensive cool downs just isn't enough and so they are looking for little ways to increase survivability and lessen the healers burden. Earthen Potion and Elixir of Deep Earth have both been steady sellers for me with the elixir having a larger return on investment but the Earthen Potion is selling all day in stacks of 10.

For healers I have found many looking to use Ghost Elixir however most have chosen to use this over the Earthen Potion to level and it is no longer profitable on my server. However I do believe most of the Mythical Mana Potions I have been selling to healers as most caster DPS have had minimal trouble with mana.

Potions and elixirs selling to DPS are all over the place although for one reason or another the ones proving to be most profitable in both numbers and profit margin are as follows. Elixir of Impossible Accuracy, Potion of the Tol'vir, and Golemblood Portion. Your server may differ but my point here is look at how people are leveling their Alchemy. If the crowd is tending to go with the same items to level then you may want to look into the options that are not as popular. Although I would make sure they provide some buff or use that people will actually be looking for.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-47844910971666513192010-12-21T01:18:00.000-08:002010-12-21T01:18:15.546-08:00Gone Fishing!Well sorry for the lack of posts the past few days but I have been a bit under the weather and at the same time have been wracking my brain looking for things to talk about that are not already being shared among all the gold blogs out there. There is however one item in particular I ran into that after skipping hundreds of times in Tol Barad I can say I will almost never skip again. The item I am talking about is Sealed Crate. This item is fished out of Shipwreck Debris and I believe it is only available in Tol Barad. Now what makes this crate so much better than the rest is the goodies that come out of it.

The Reinforced Crate of Wrath wasn't all that great. It randomly came out of any pool and dropped a low number of materials out of each one. It was hard to farm and not worth the time. However fishermen now have a great way to boost gold per hour or material farming. The Sealed Crate is so great because it can drop almost any Cataclysm material needed. One notable absence is Savage Leather, although many will see the fact that it drops Heavy Savage Leather as a better prospect. It also drops high end vendor food. So if you use this food to restore HP or mana you may not need to buy any ever again. Another notable drop is the full range of Rumsey Rums that drop. The one that will be most profitable as it is desirable by twinks is the Rumsy Rum Black Label. Just under this you still may be able to sell Rumsey Rum and Rumsey Rum Dark, although I wouldn't not expect these to sell as often or for as much.

Also there may prove to be more exciting drops that come out of this crate but at this time neither Wowhead nor I have seen any. I cannot say these crates are worth farming for any one item but if you happen on a shipwreck debris be sure and fish it. The extra time fishing these would take is well worth the possibilities that come out of this crate.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-80343341725939610692010-12-17T20:39:00.000-08:002010-12-17T20:44:22.533-08:00The Auction House Dark AlleyEveryday I see things on the auction house that many people consider scamming, mean, and just plain wrong. You know what I'm talking about and maybe you have tried a few of these things in your time. From the classic posting 1 arrow or bullet for just under the price of an entire stack, to the people intentionally messing with prices on certain items to attempt to cash in later with people who fully trust Auctioneer scans. Then there are the people who post an item well above normal value and then log onto another toon or account and spam trade for that item at an even higher price. These are true scams. Anything in which you actively deceive another player and give them some sort of hope for profit. Even myself can't say that the allure of easy gold hasn't kept me from attempting a few of these on occasion.

With it being so easy for someone to create a new toon to pull these scams off and not have their Main or even their guild's integrity compromised how do you put a stop to these? One idea would be to educate your server and be a whistle blower anytime you see these scams. Of course plan on taking a lot of abuse from the Trade Chat Trolls. Another method would be to actively report these obvious scams and hope some action is taken. Still you could try and guilt the scammer into stopping his actions. If it is someone who plays the auction house for fun you could try devaluing his "achivements" and swear he couldn't do it a legitimate way.

Before we belittle and destroy someones toon or account we have to remember they may not realize that it is wrong. There are many players who see similar scams everyday. They also see the people falling for them and can only imagine the gold the person pulling it off is making. They may also be recruited by someone else to do the dirty work for them so in a way they have become oblivious street soldiers in a WoW mafia. Often a little education into the possible infractions the man (Blizzard) can place on them is enough to get people to stop. Once they understand it's wrong direct them to a forum or gold blog where they can learn how to make gold legitimate ways. Sure they may become competitors but knowing that you helped them get to that point should be enough reward to cover the little gold you may lose out to them.

For myself the few scams I tried early on in my WoW endeavors proved to be successful monetarily and there was a bit of a thrill to know I was ripping someone off. However once those feelings started to fade the actual "worth" I put on my gold was little. I would put a bunch of time and energy into these scams and in the end I would feel no sense of achievement for all the gold I had accumulated. Thats when I started looking for new methods and stumbled upon a few sites that set me onto the path Auctioneer and away from that of the Scammer. (JMTC and later The Consortium along with countless other gold blogs. Many of them in my blogroll)

I'm talking about this now because of a few new possible scams I have seen ideas popping up for. Now for those of you unsure if what you see can be considered a scam or not take into mind a few things. Is said person somehow planting false hopes into other players to attract buyers? Is it possible the person claiming to be scammed or calling someone a scammer is just upset because of how high priced the "scammer" is selling an item for? Is this player possibly being setup up by a trade chat troll so that they look like a scammer?

Finally what is your thoughts on true scamming? Should people be able to profit by completely leading someone down a false path? How harshly should blizzard punish those caught? What have you tried to combat these people if anything and were you successful?Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-51344822511702105992010-12-15T05:38:00.000-08:002010-12-15T05:38:56.029-08:00ALERT: Alchemists important information belowThe latest hotfix has made Vile of the Sands able to be traded. Now currently making the mount will cost almost 60k going by the average sell price on wowhead for Truegold bars. Now that may sound like a astronomical price but unless you want this mount for yourself early on you can easily sell one of these for an enormous profit.
Now there are ways to limit your cost to make these. You can transmute your own Truegold bars although it would take 12 days to build up enough to make 1 mount. An alternative would be to find other alchemists willing to sell their cool downs. You are still however looking at a substantial investment to create one.

Still another alternative, while you may be one of the few with this recipe would be to make one to sell in trade chat to drive interest in the item. Once interest has been driven and more people want it you can offer to craft one for them if they are able to obtain the vendor parts and the truegold for you. You then craft the mount and charge a mark up for both the parts you provided and crafting it for them. This way you will not make as much gold per mount but I believe more people will be interested if you offer this alternative and in the long run you will make more total gold.

Giving up control of reagents will take away from your potential profit margin but at the same time it will keep the amount of gold you personally have to invest to a minimum.

On a side note if you were wondering. The vendor is not associated with a faction so the only way to decrease the cost on these items is through the Goblin racial and the Guild perk Bartering.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-73693712349345318482010-12-13T18:51:00.000-08:002010-12-13T18:52:40.127-08:00LF Rougue to farm lock boxes! So as a Scribe I have continued up until this point to make a lot of gold off Glyphs. I also started making as many other items as I could (All of them listed here). Due the the limited herbs and volatile life I spent the first few days focusing on Darkmoon Cards as the faire was still in town and I was able to create a total of 4 decks. Even choosing to use one for myself I still made great profit as I was able to sell the other 3 for 50k a piece. With the faire gone, however, I decided to start making relics again as the first few I made sold quickly. There was however one small issue.

The 85 relics require one of 3 reagents that are sold by a vendor in limited quantity. With the new mentality of people realizing they can resell these for profit many players are grabbing these as they quest through Twilight highlands. After trying to catch them on the vendor myself at 4 different times I decided to go looking for a secondary way to obtain them.

Low and behold according to Wowhead all the items I need have a chance to come from a Flame-Scarred Junkbox. Now these junkboxes are impossible for most people to farm as the only way to obtain them is through Pick pocket. Now finding a rogue to go out and actively farm these for you would not be a good idea as they will demand a high price for them. Instead look for alternatives. I went around to different zones asking general chat if there were any Rogues attempting to farm the few Epics that also drop from the lock boxes. Once I found one I would offer them a deal to CoD the reagents I wanted. By finding someone already farming these lockboxes I am able to keep my cost down and at the same time the rouge farming them has a bit more incentive as he now has the bonus of extra gold if he finds what I want.

So far this way I have managed to obtain 25 reagents that according to prices on the AH are worth about 25k. (yes my server is insane and has people listing them for 1k each). This is just one of several ways you can get creative in your gold making. And lets face it without continuously looking for ways to squeeze more gold out of the Auctionhouse eventually we are going to get bored with it.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-20162974983138249572010-12-12T18:45:00.000-08:002010-12-12T18:45:32.440-08:00PvP sets: Now is the time. The new Arena and Rated BG season begins on the 14th. For those who do not PvP this is still exciting news as we can use this to profit with professions. Blacksmithing, Tailoring, and Leatherworking all can create full sets of PvP gear. In addition to this Inscription can make a PvP off hand.

Now if you have not had a ton of luck selling this gear you will see a change in the next few days. Slowly people will once again realize they need PvP gear so that they may obtain better PvP gear at a quick enough pace. In the past only hardcore arena teams would bother to obtain starting PvP gear as quickly as they could. With the new Rated Battlegrounds, however, more people will be looking to get a hold of this crafted gear. These people will not have the same mindset as the true Arena players and will wait until after they realize they need the PvP gear to actually obtain it. I expect the number of items sold will continue to grow for a few weeks into the season. Only once people are replacing a significant number of pieces with Arena point and honor point gear will we see sales slowly degrade.

TLDR:
Step 1: post crafted gear
Step 2: ??????
Step 3: ProfitDizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-51194105332814023302010-12-10T16:53:00.000-08:002010-12-10T16:53:25.447-08:00Farming VolatilesSo I have been searching around and have yet to find a decent spot to farm any single Volatile. So it seems gathering professions are going to be able to continue to control this market as well. This may not seem like such a big deal to some, but there are others out there without skinning, mining, or herbalism who enjoy mindless hours of grinding groups of mobs for items. Yes there are mobs that drop the volatiles but with the amount different professions take this method would just be too time consuming to get a suitable amount.

Another issue I already see people attributing these closer to eternals than their crystallized versions and thus the prices stay insanely high. I do believe prices will come down but when you think about it should it cost me 600g in volatiles to make one darkmoon card? Add on top of that the Herbs to make the inks and you are spending over 10k per deck on average. These prices will slowly come down but until then we only have 3 choices. Shut up and deal with the prices. Stop playing in that market for a while. Or go farming.

I say go farming. Go explore the new zones with a different eye looking at everything you can and wondering "how can I make a profit off this?" Right now standing in Stormwind or Orgrimmar is the last thing you want to be doing. Go enjoy the game you will have plenty of time to spend hours figuring out what to mass craft for profit later when prices slowly come down.

A note for those of you who mine and herb on PvE servers. If your gatherer is 85 you can go to Tol Barad and gather. When you are on the northern PvP side you are not flagged unless there is a battle or you attack a guard. On this side I noticed many nodes for both mining and herbing with minimal mobs. While you cannot fly in this area if you are subject to a lot of competition for nodes on your server you may want to give this zone a shot.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-92003409882319351922010-12-08T12:09:00.000-08:002010-12-08T12:09:19.750-08:00Go Mining! So I did the marathon grind to 85. I didn't however claim realm first anything. One thing I did notice however was the scarcity of volatile drops. While there may still yet be a few great spots to grind these they did not show up during my questing. Mining by far provides the best way to obtain many of them at the moment. Also these are supposed to be more equivalent to crystallized instead of eternals and yet each one is going for a lot more at the moment.

Personally I have a guildie that doesn't care about gold at all farming ore for me. This does mean I'll be a bit indebted to him if he needs a piece of gear but hey I'm getting really cheap mats to level with. Because of this I'm going herbing. My plan is to sell half of what I gather in herbs but keep all the volatile life. I'm pushing to sell the new DMF cards as fast as possible.

Well that is it for today. Unless I manage to find something note worthy at which time I will be making another short post about it.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-69880548346975379472010-12-06T16:37:00.000-08:002010-12-06T16:39:17.303-08:00Enchanting and the rest: Potential Cataclysm Goldmines.I skipped over Enchanting before because to much of the professions relies on hardcore players crunching numbers and telling everyone else what enchants they should be getting. I still am not going to go through the entire profession as this is still true but there are two items I did want to talk about. Enchanting has been given a toy of sorts in the two new mini pets. Enchanted Lantern for Horde and Magic Lamp for Alliance.

Yes these will probably flood your Auction house quickly and after the first wave of people getting them they will fail to be a constant money maker on your factions side. You can, however, sell the pets cross faction and if you are able to do so you could potentially make a great profit from these. Those buying and selling turny pets cross faction can tell you that the profit from items like these is crazy.

Now for those of you planning to gather and profit off the people going for profession server firsts I do have some notes for you.

Make sure you get the first batch to the Auction House early. The earlier you get them there the better you can control pricing on these items. I would find a price you believe people will pay and double it. This will give you room so even if your first batch is undercut your still above your actual selling point when you come back to post new batches. Also if you are one of the few who does not have a set bank alt I would suggest you set one up now or clean out on of your alt's bags and put him next to the AH mailbox. Also if you wish to set up item sets for auto mailing with APM or another addon the items you will be gathering are as follows. (I am including Bars for Mining as some miners may wish to smelt to increase the diversity of their sales.)

Herbalism: Heartblossom, Azshara's Vale, Stormvine, Cinderbloom, and Volatile Life

Mining: Obsidium ore, Obsidium Bar, Elementium Ore, Elementium Bar, Hardened Elementium Bar, Elementium Geode, Pyrite ore, Pyrite Bar, Volatile Fire, Volatile Water, Volatile Earth, and Volatile Shadow.

Skinning: Savage Leather, Blackened Dragonscale, Deepsea Scale, and Pristine Hide

Also if your gatherer is also a Engineer you may want to consider creating an Electrostatic Condenser so you can also farm Volatile Air as well.

One thing you may have noticed is the Elementium Geode. This guy is potentially mined off Elementium veins and being BoE he will make a few miners very happy. For a while this guy will prove to be very rare and thus will fetch a high price off of the AH. Also with mining the Hardened Elementium Bar may seem like the new Titansteel but it is not. It is however used in Engineering and Blacksmithing in conjunction with the new Titansteel, Truegold.

Well this is it before Cataclysm goes live. Don't expect a major post tomorrow as I will be attempting a server first achievement. If I find a bit of time I will make a short post of anything I find that is note worthy. Thanks for reading this series I hope it has helped a few of you figure out your attack plan for professions going into Cataclysm. Goodluck in your gold making endeavors and I will see you on the other side.. (and the other side is full of even bigger swimming pools filled with gold)Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-85802880726929352372010-12-06T15:43:00.000-08:002010-12-06T15:43:15.237-08:00Tailoring: Potential Cataclysm Goldmines.Tailoring. While still similar in nature to previous expansions it has one major change that will prove challenging to anyone wanting to fully utilize all aspects of it to make gold. I am of course speaking of Dreamcloth. Unlike before there is only 1 specialty cloth. Also unlike before this specialty cloth is BoP. With out utilizing Dream of Destruction, which is the only way to create it without a cool down, there are only 5 ways to make dream cloth which have a week cooldown associated with them. This means either spamming Heroics for Chaos orbs as they are BoP as well or limiting yourself to 5 Dreamcloth a week.

The different dreamcloth patterns are Dream of Azshara, Deepholm, Hyjal, Ragnaros, and Skywall. These are all on seperate 1 week cooldowns.

Now the Dreamcloth is needed for both the Epic gear and the spell threads. This will make both of them very expensive at first and they will retain their high profit margins for a long time. Now it is needed to be noted that there are no other tailoring recipes that require Chaos Orbs so you will be using them to make dreamcloth. You will still be limited and without a second tailor you will want to choose to focus on either gear or spell threads.

Spell threads just like the leg armors are in both rare and epic quality. The spirit spell threads may prove to be popular with both healers and their dps specs which are capable of turning spirit into another stat. The are the Ghostly Spellthread and the Powerful Ghostly Spellthread. Wile Mages, Warlocks, and possibly PvP casters will choose the stamina spell threads instead. Those being the Enchanted Spellthread and Powerful Enchanted Spellthread.

The other option for your dreamcloth is the epic Belt and Leg pieces. The belts come in Spirit for healers and Hit for Dps and require 4 dreamcloth each. The Legs however do not have a definitive healer or dps and instead there are Haste and Mastery legs. The legs also cost 6 dream cloth so without using the dream of destruction it you would only be able to craft one after doing a second week of dreamcloth creation.

My plan is to eventually level a second tailor so I can make spellthreads with one and epic gear with the second but until then I will probably focus on spellthreads as I believe early on there will be more going after the gear them selves.

Tailoring does provide many other opportunities to make gold as well with a major one being bags. The new major bag is the Embersilk bag and it provides 22 slots. There is also a 24 slot bag in the Illusionary bag but I believe your dream cloth is best utilized somewhere else. Also there are two new profession bags which provide 36 slots each. The new Herb bag Hyjal Expedition Bag I believe will be very popular with herbalists but the Enchanting bag Otherworldly Bag I'm not sold on yet but will still provide some profit.

For the PvP enthusiasts we will be able to craft two new sets of PvP gear. The Emberfire set is geared more toward healers but there are a few pieces with Haste rating instead of spirit and these may sell to people speced to benefit more form Haste. The Fireweave set is geared toward DPS specs but healers with enough haste may wish for some of the crit pieces as well. All in all these will be quick sells to those looking to get into Arena and Rated BGs as soon as they start.

As for leveling gear. I cannot see any specific pieces that will prove to be profitable as of yet but as we are able to note holes in the quest rewards a few of the healing oriented Spiritmend set and the dps oriented Deathsilk set may prove to become popular.

On the Vanity side of things we have the High Society Top Hat and the Black Embersilk Gown. I can see the top hat becoming very popular as it is the only way for non worgens to obtain the top hat. (Worgen get one as a starting zone quest reward). The gown, however, I do not believe will be as popular. Unless you are on an RP server the only people wanting these will be collectors and female bank toons. While this may sound like it still provides a good amount of opportunity they are the only other Tailoring pattern that requires a chaos orb and unless you do not wish to push out as much dream cloth as possible I don't think these will be worth it.

Well that is it for Tailoring. I'm sorry if you were expecting this yesterday. I thought it had posted but there was an error somewhere along the way and it failed to post. I will however also be putting out the last post in this series, Enchanting and all the gathering professions, in just a bit. Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-68712827485436936392010-12-04T22:05:00.000-08:002010-12-04T22:05:21.751-08:00Leatherworking: Potential Cataclysm Goldmines.Leatherworking has some great potential in Cataclysm. From the Leg enchants, entry level 85 capes, to the Mail and leather Epic chests and belts. Even the leveling gear has potential to make some good gold off of. Also if your Leatherworker happens to be a skinner you will find yourself able to make even greater profit while leveling.

First off the Leg enchants. There are two types of leg enchants with each having rare and epic versions respectively. Melee DPS will be most likely using Scorched Leg Armor and Dragonscale Leg Armor. While tanks and some others will be drawn to Twilight Leg Armor and Charscale Leg Armor. People will be using the rare leg armors to level so profit will be a bit tight on these but I would expect people with smaller budgets grabbing these for their first armor set at 85 expecting to replace them at some point. The player with deeper pockets however will want only the best and only the epic armors will do for them. If there is not a vendor trading Heavy Savage Leather for Pristine Hides I would expect these to go for substantial profit. Whats more the Dragon Scale Leg armor is orange at 425 and so if you can get your hands on the mats you can potentially level with this pattern.

Another item set that should prove to be worth crafting for a good amount of time into Cataclysm is the capes. Just like the leg armors leatherworking has the Melee capes both an Agility DPS and a Strength Tank cloak. Unlike the leg armors these require Chaos Orbs. In case you have not read all my other posts Chaos Orbs are BoP. That means you will have to run dungeons to be able to craft these. It also means you will not see as many people in trade who have the mats and want them made. Yes they may look for people with these orbs who are willing to craft for them but if you choose to go this route I would charge a decent fee for both the Orb and your crafting time.

Along the same lines there are the Epic pieces. These belts require 2 chaos orbs and are mail spell, mail melee, leather spell, and leather melee. The chest pieces require 3 chaos orbs and same as the belts there are mail spell, mail melee, leather spell, and leather melee. These will prove to be highly popular among the Gearscore freaks and people in guilds that expect people to be ready to raid ASAP. The first few of each of these will go for insane prices so if you level your leatherworker first I would gather the mats and create as many of these as possible before moving into the leg armors and other armor pieces.

Now another route to take if you can't get hold of Chaos Orbs on your leatherworker is to craft the rare PvP sets. These should prove to be very popular with the new rated BG system which will allow more people to participate in rated PvP and do it at their own pace. Smiler to the Epic peaces their are sets for each. The leather spell set is the Bloodied Wyrmhide set, leather melee is Bloodied Leather, mail spell is Bloodied Scale, and mail melee is Bloodied Dragonscale. I wouldn't expect these to fetch outrageous prices after the first few days but with so many items to craft there is no doubt there is plenty of gold to be made here.

As for leveling gear outside the two cloaks for level 83 the rest of it is a crap shoot. They all have random enchantment associated with them. Also while there are many choices of which patterns to use I believe enough people will be creating these that unless you manage to get one of the more desirable stats you may be wasting your time crafting a lot of these early. Later on when holes are found in gear picked up while leveling some of these pieces will prove profitable, but I wouldn't bother making more than you need to until these holes are found.

Well only Tailoring left... Not quite. After Tailoring I will be making a quick look at enchanting along with the gathering professions. This will bring us to Dec 6th just in time for Cataclysm. I hope you have all your plans for leveling almost complete and if your not ready with buff food and items and such I would start collecting it now so as to not waste any time when you log on Dec 7th. With that I leave you with this question. What is your reason behind the first toon you will level in Cataclysm?Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-10963347111227804702010-12-03T21:55:00.000-08:002010-12-03T21:59:51.895-08:00Jewelcrafting: Potential Cataclysm Goldmines.Jewelcrafting, smiler to Enchanting, will find certain gems to remain highly profitable throughout the expansion. However unlike Enchanting Jewelcrafting offers several other items as well as other ways to make more gold early on in the expansion. Just like in Wrath Jewelcrafting will require you to do dailies to obtain all the cut you want. You can use this to your advantage as many people will be looking to grab the main cuts first thinking these will be the most profitable early on.

Many people will find themselves in need of hit, expertise, and other "off" stats. Along the same lines people will try to obtain socket bonuses and will be looking for off cuts to fill the less desirable slots. I would suggest picking up an off cut or two before grabbing the main cuts. Plus if your looking for the main cuts for your own use I'm sure a guild buddy has the cut your looking for. A few examples of cuts that will do well are

<ins style="background-image: url("http://static.wowhead.com/images/wow/icons/large/inv_misc_cutgemsuperior3.jpg");"></ins><del></del>

Nimble Dream Emerald, Guardian's Demonseye, and Polished Ember Topaz for tanks. I'll let you figure out the rest but popularity will be along the same lines as Wrath. Though I would expect the Mastery cuts such as Skillful Ember Topaz to become very profitable at some point.

Jewelers have been given 4 new items that will be popular with bank alts and people who collect various vanity items. The Rhinestone Sunglasses, Jeweler's Ruby Monocle, Jeweler's Sapphire Monocle, and Jeweler's Emerald Monocle. The sunglasses are the new version of the Ruby Shades. The monocle which are dropped patterns, if I'm not mistaken, cost more to make but will draw the same attention. The monocles are the smiler to the Nobel's Monocle but each will have the lens its own respective color. These will not be items worth spamming on the Auction house but when I obtain them I plan on keeping at least on of each up.

Lastly in the jewelers new Arsenal is jewelry. The level 85 rings and necks may not prove to be as popular as other crafted armor pieces but I do believe for a good bit into cataclysm you will find them selling often enough to raiders filling that last whole or altoholics gearing up an alt since they don't have the time to grind dungeons. As you would expect there are Agi Hit, Agi Mastery, Tank, and Int rings. Respectivbely there are Agi Mastery, Agi Str, Tank, and Int necks. It does seem odd there are no Str Dps rings or necks. This may be an error as one of the Agi necks has a socket bonus of Str. Also the tool tip for the item it creates shows it has an Agi bonus.

There are a few level 80 and 82 rings, and necks. These will prove not to be profitable but will provide great skillups and for a good time into cataclysm may prove to be the new "saronite shuffle" fodder. However only after someone is able to crunch the disenchanting numbers on these items will we know for sure.

Well that's it for Jewelcrafting. Tomorrow I move to Leatherworking. I hope your last minute stockpiling is going as well as mine has been. Glyphs still have proven to be my biggest seller. I expect this to continue until December 7th when the glyph market (save people who choose to completely reroll Worgen or Goblins off the bat) will see a recession that has the potential of lasting few weeks till a month. While it may never completely recover to its old self I still expect to see plenty of glyph sales throughout Cataclysm.
Don't! While it may seem scribes are getting the shaft they are in fact getting new ways to make gold. After the rush of worgens and goblins is over your scribe will not be making as much off glyphs and over all they may not be able to pull the same kind of gold they use to I still believe the profession will hold its own in the gold department. For the sake of this post I'm going to assume you will still be crafting a posting glyphs. If time is a factor just identify the glyphs that sell most often for each class and only focus on those.

Outside of glyphs Scribes will see a good amount of early gold from the offhands and relics they can make. While some of the 81 offhands and relics will see I again believe it will be a week or 2 before these are worth selling. The 85 versions however will be very popular.
For the offhands the Battle Tome will be a must have for entry PvP. I would expect these to sell well to PvE players as well as they try to get into Baradin Hold (the new VoA). Of course for PvE there is a Healing and a DPS offhand.
There is one issue with the relics I noticed. But this issue may prove to only drive sales further. The Tattooed Eyeball is Epic while the Notched Jawbone and Silver Inlaid Leaf are rare. While all 3 will be in demand by anyone needing a relic at level 85, Obviously the Epic fever will make the Tattooed Eyeball sell for more and more often.

Like Wrath I expect the new Darkmoon cards to sell for a LOT and to sell well into Cataclysm. Hurricane has both an Agi and Str version. The healing card Tsunami will provide a great mana regen boost. Earthquake will benefit all tanks but possibly Bears the most. Volcano however will its 1600 intellect proc will probably be the most sought after and will in my opinion bring the highest amount.

In the consumable department I expect Runescroll of Fortitude II to do fairly well though it will not be a huge money maker. Also the next two items are nice items to level inscription with but I believe have the potential to make a great amount of gold. The Adventurer's Journals I believe will be snatched up by people attempting to speed up their leveling as much as possible. One of the possible buffs is 10% bonus quest XP. The rest of the buffs are not as much of a bonus but will still help you quest a bit faster. The only issue with this item is it only appears to work on people under 85 and has a 4 hour cool down and the buffs only last 1 hour.
On a completely different twist Blizzard has given scribes the ability to profit off of others with a gambling addiction. The Mysterious Fortune Card I believe will prove to be a huge hit. People will buy a bunch of these off you on the AH and use them immediatly. Either they will win and buy more to try their luck again or they will lose and come back for more with "the the next one is a winner" mentality. The only issue here is going to be maintaining a price low enough to encourage people to buy in MASS. I think this will be a huge hit once herb prices come down and people start to look for other things to do to occupy bits of time in the game. Another note on these is they are needed by cooks to make Fortune Cookies. The buff provided by these cookies is equivalent to the new fish feast and my prove very valuable until guilds fish enough to obtain the feast.

The last item is a little iffy Dust of Disappearance. While yes it is on a vendor I do believe eventually scribes will be able to craft it for under the 9g or so the price will fall to with guild perks. The only issue here is if you can craft it for say 6g and sell it for 7 to 8g your only making 1.6g tops. You will most likely be able to sell it for 9 to 10g to sucker, however, I do not believe there will be enough demand or potential profit to make this item worth your time.

On Friday I will continue this with Jewelcrafting. I will be unable to post for the next two days as I'm going to stay with my grandfather to help him through his next few days of treatment. Be sure to check out the Blogging Carnival over at JMTC on December 2nd.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-56908897003879629562010-11-29T21:11:00.000-08:002010-12-03T09:08:25.298-08:00Engineering: Potential Cataclysm Goldmines.Wait what? Engineering? How is engineering, a profession that has in the past been poor in the gold department, going to make me gold? Well Engineering has been given the usual items to make gold and Cataclysm is no exception. Cata, however, has given a few extras that will at least boost income in the beginning but may prove the be less profitable later in the expansion.

First off just a note to Engineers with a gathering profession along side it. There will not be clouds to farm the new "eternals". Engineering however is only heavily dependent on Volatile Air. Engineers will still be able to obtain Volatile Air when skinning, mining, and herbing by having an Electrostatic Condenser in their bags. While this change does require a gathering skill, I do believe it will simplify a lot of engineers lives it would be nice however to somehow incorporate it into other professions to allow all engineers to benefit.

Blizzard managed to add a bit more flavor to the scopes. There are now Hit, Haste, and Att power proc Scopes. Hit will most likely be profitable during the first raid tier and possibly into the second. As we move further into the expansion however I would not expect the Hit scope to sell very often. Haste will be beneficial to both people hit capped and PvP though if the att power scope procs often enough I would expect to see these sell. Another point between these two is price as the Gnomish X-Ray Scope will be more expensive to craft.

Something that may seem counter intuitive but I expect to sell fairly well is the Loot-A-Rang. This item needs a skill of 490 but only a skill level of 125 to use. It will be very useful for any ranged toon leveling with engineering. Think about it how much total time is spent running to a mob after you kill it? Or what about that one mob you can't loot without killing the 1000 pats that decided to check out their fallen friend? While this won't be a game changer it will provide a "fun" ability for engineers leveling and as we know items that increase "fun" sell very well.
On a smiler note the two new pets will provide a slow but steady income. Both are interesting pets as, De-Weaponized Mechanical Companion reminds me of the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog just not as dangerous and the Personal World Destroyer is a mini fel rever with a blue glow.

Engineering has been given two completely new items which I believe may prove to be great money makers early in cataclysm. The first being the Lure Master Tackle Box. This is the perfect bag for anyone that will power level fishing. And there will be a lot of people doing so as the new fish feast requires guilds to fish 10,000 fish before it becomes available. The last item for today is the Goblin Barbecue! Buff food created by engineers! finally something to bring to the raid! Sadly all those people who bought your Lure Master Tackle Boxes to fish for their guilds will make this obsolete once they obtain Recipe: Seafood Magnifique Feasts. Also Broiled Dragon Feast provides an alternative to the Barbecue. While this may not see much time as the buff food every raid wants I do believe it will prove easier to make than the dragon feast and the cool grill that spawns alone will drive sales from the people who enjoy collecting and using unique items such as this.

Unfortunately that is it for engineers. Even though you still will fail to top the charts on the income scale you don't have to give up making gold completely just for the versatility the profession provides you. Tomorrow I will be looking into Inscription and those of you who hate the glyph market will be happy to know Cataclysm is giving you a few goodies outside of glyphs to make gold with.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-31380465002254785632010-11-28T22:20:00.000-08:002010-11-29T12:55:36.616-08:00Blacksmithing: Potential Cataclysm Goldmines. Quick note I got Wowhead Tooltips working so I will not be bothering to explain what any items do anymore.

Blacksmithing has the same basic layout as Wrath. It doesn't however have all the complexity due to Cataclysm only having 5 levels to work with. Also there are only a few pieces of armor any blacksmith will be crafting to gear for level 85 Heroics and raids. I do not believe any of the low level gear will sell well right off the bat in Cataclysm and so at least at first to make Blacksmithing as profitable as possible you will need access to the later patterns.

First off are the consumables. Elementium Rods will be very popular with all the enchanters that will be forced to buy them. I would expect to make a good amount of gold off these early but as more competition enters the arena expect to either lower your threshold considerably or wait for the Alt army to begin leveling additional toons before selling these as often.
Elementium Shield Spike and Pyrium Shield Spike will both be popular. Elementium for leveling tanks and Pyrium will be popular for both Tanking and Prot PvP. Pyrium Weapon Chain may prove to be valuable as well although I do not believe they will carry the same demand as the shield spikes.
Of all the consumables the Ebonsteel Belt Buckle will, by far, be king. Even today I'm still selling 15 to 20 Belt buckles a day. Even with a large number of competitors this belt buckle will provide a good amount of income through out the expansion.

Next is the End game gear. Apart from a few Epic pieces or armor and weapons people will not be looking to you for Dungeon and Raid gear at 85. If you happen to have a good sized PvP population on your server however expect a large number of sales early in Cataclysm with the Bloodied and Ornate PvP sets. Wile Bloodied will heavily outweigh Ornate in sales numbers don't shun it completely as Holy Paladins will be able to do decent spell damage on top of their heals making them great for PvP.

Outside of PvP gear every end game piece requires Chaos Orbs. with blue weapons and shield requiring 1, the epic Chests 3, and Belts 2. Notice that they these Orbs are BoP. This will allow Blacksmiths to completely control the market. No more of someone gathering all the mats and finding someone to craft for them. Even if people do ask you will be able to charge a fee for crafting and your Orbs. Although I'm not looking forward to all my guildies expecting me to use my Orbs to make them items for cheap. Wile this may push more Blacksmiths into the Epic market as they amass Chaos Orbs faster expect to see high percentage margins at first and possibly see them return with the start of each raid tier.

Leveling Gear: I do not believe outside a few pieces that leveling gear will be worth selling at first. A few weeks into Cataclysm however and some of the Altoholics will start bringing up toons that are not geared up at 80 and so will greatly benefit from some of these pieces.
for level 81 there are rare weapons. Included is a 2h sword, an agi dagger, a spell dagger, a agi axe, a polearm, and a healing mace. Expect these to sell well as they will be replacing heirloom weapons that do not increase after level 80. In that same boat I would expect the Chest and Shoulders from the Redsteel Dps set and the Stormforged healing set to sell well. Wile other pieces from these sets may sell they will not sell as often as these shoulders and their respective chests.

Anyone who is a big fan of selling the Cobalt tank gear will be a fan of this next item set. The Hardened Obsidium Tanking set Consisting of Helm, Shoulder, Chest, Belt, Legs, Boots, Wrist, Hands, and Shield will be popular. Short of a few items potentially substituted by early quest rewards I would expect every part of this to sell. Sales my be slow at first but I believe with the alt mentality most players have developed there will be enough tanks leveling through out the expansion to make this set worth your wile.

And that Wraps up Blacksmithing. Skipping to Engineering tomorrow as Enchanting relies to much on crunching numbers to determine which enchant is best. Also Enchanting doesn't provide enough variety at first for any of the high end cata enchants not to sell. And wile Engineering still isn't a major money maker it has been provided with a few extras in cataclysm capable of making a good amount of gold.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-63386491774067512812010-11-27T20:24:00.000-08:002010-11-28T20:19:17.876-08:00Alchemy: Potential Cataclysm Goldmines.Alchemy will continue to provide people with the profession a wide range of possibilities to make gold. Alchemy also provides what will possibly be the largest gold sink in the game with Vial of the Sands. There are however a few things within Alchemy that could prove to be Goldmines and possibly some pitfalls as well. Just a heads up before I give my opinion on certain items this is purely speculation at this point and is by no means the be all end all for what you should focus on in Cataclysm.

First off there are a series of new potions that every raider will be looking to stock up on depending on their class. These potions will allow for even more DPS during cooldown phases. They are cheap to make which makes them desirable as they should easily become easily affordable to even the most casual of raiders.

Volcanic Potion: 1200 Spell power for 25 sec.
Potion of the Tol'vir: 1200 Agility for 25 sec.
Golemblood Potion: 1200 Str for 25 sec.
Earthen Potion: 4800 Armor for 25 sec.

Also there are a few other Potions which will most likely be a hit.
Potion of Illusion: This potion allows you to look like someone else. (I'm guessing whoever you are targeting before you use it.) It also is working on Hunter Pets on Beta and makes you the original size of the hunter's pet.
Potion of Treasure Finding: Allows you to find extra "treasure". This will be a Must for those who will try to grind cloth and volatile elements. It causes mobs to occasionally drop a tiny treasure chest and along with some gold is a chance at several pieces of Embersilk and some volatile elements. Wile it will be more expensive to make compared to other potions this will make a mob farmer that much more effective and may even prove to be worth using when questing an Alt from 80 to 85.
Potion of Deepholm: Teleports you to Deepholm. This potion will be essential to anyone making frequent trips to Deepholm. I only have one concern with it. Being that so many people will be looking for this potion it may get to much attention from other Alchemists.

I do not believe many elixirs will be worth mass crafting but just as in Wrath the Flasks will be a must have for any raider. The flasks have changed a bit from Wrath however. There is one for each Major stat. so Spirit, Stam, Str, Int, and Agi all are separate flasks.

As far as transmutes go I do not believe the Rare gem transmutes nor Transmute: Living Elements will provide a great way to make gold but both will be valuable for those with other professions capable of using the results. There are 3 transmutes that will prove to be very profitable however.
Transmute: Pyrum Bar. This is the new Transmute: Titanium and will be just as profitable providing Pyrite ore has a decent drop rate on rare gems when prospected.
Transmute: Shadowspirit Diamond. This is the new Meta transmute. Wile selling these off to jewelers for their leveling and crafting will provide decent profit the true benefit will be seen by those with jewelers themselves .
And finally Transmute: Truegold. This is the new Smelt: Titansteel. It will have a one day cool down and is needed for most high end crafting. For Alchemists this will take the place of the Epic Gem transmute as there are no Epic gems as of now.

And there you have it. Wile not a complete breakdown of Illustrious Grandmaster Alchemy these will be the items providing the greatest potential for profit. As I couldn't decide what order I wanted to do the crafting professions in I will be continuing through the list alphabetically continuing with Blacksmithing tomorrow.

For the miners still bugged about Truegold you are not being completely shafted as you get Smelt: Hardened Elementium. This will be used along with Truegold for Endgame Engineering and Blacksmithing.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-9665924464603861102010-11-23T21:56:00.000-08:002010-11-23T23:56:52.367-08:00Turkey Break.Hey just wanted to let you all know I'm not giving up already. I will however not be posting for the next couple days as I will not have time to myself for the next couple days.

Just a few notes from the bit of playing time I got in today.
I hope everyone changed their Ink of the Sea because Sellers is now trading for Blackfallow. If you haven't don't sell your IotS off as you will use it, just not as fast. If you did change all your ink keep an eye out for cheap herbs. People will start dumping stock and even with a few people attempting to drive prices up the prices will fall to record low prices. On a smiler note keep an eye on prices of any Northrend Mats you are stocking as the same is likely with them as well.

If you do cooking for any reason be sure to check out the new cooking dailies. In Stormwind he is located near the stockades. Not sure for Horde. I don't know if he has different Dailies available yet but the one he had me do consisted of fishing for 5 min in Stormwind to obtain some special fish. This daily gives Cooking tokens which are useless until December 7th but at the same time you can start stocking up on them immediately and be able to buy that many more recipes.

Also for those that like to be as prepared as possible the level 85 Justice Points gear is available for purchase. This gear is equivalent to 85 Heroic loot and will allow you to enjoy the end game that much faster.

Thats it for a few days. I'll be back this weekend and will be exploring possible goldmines within each of the professions come cata.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-66781366776812272702010-11-22T20:01:00.000-08:002010-11-26T13:34:51.544-08:00Cataclysm Stratigies. "The best laid schemes of mice and men"This post has been submitted to be included in the JMTC Gold Blog Carnival. Be sure to head on other there December 2nd to check out all the great postings on this months topic. What's your 'Cataclysm Gold Strategy?'

So whats my strategy going into Cataclysm? On the very basic level my strategy is to continue business as normal. Sure the items bought and sold will change but I plan to focus on making gold through crafted goods.

What no farming? Well sure I'm a sucker for easy money so I'm sure my Scribe/Herbalist will be selling off a majority of what I manage to farm in the first few weeks. After the initial boom of raw materials my next focus is becoming as diverse as possible.

This means leveling Alts to get behind the phased wall everyone is talking about. I don't mind the idea behind this and I love the thought of fewer people with my professions at max level. The main reason I want to diversify as soon as possible is the flexibility to meet any growing demand, and the ability to ride out low points in one market by focusing on another. Some people have exact plans as to what items will be the best to focus on come Cataclysm. Plans such as these, however, scare me. "The best laid schemes of mice and men, often go awry". I'm cautious of any plan that doesn't at minimum give a "safe" alternative if the plan proves to be folly. Take my post on stocking up Saronite Ore for instance. There you buy something you could just convert and vendor for a small profit. This is the "safe" alternative. This strategy looks more promising when you realize all the things you could do to turn an even larger profit.

This flexibility also keeps me from developing tunnel vision. The fact that I have to keep an eye on every profession I have available means I can't lose myself on that one item that does become amazingly profitable. This way I am able to benefit from said item wile keeping my eyes open for the next item to pop up. If I keep my hands in as many cookie jars as possible I will never go without a cookie. Even when Grandma forgets to make new cookies, and Mom refuses to buy more, I can still get a few from Aunt Cindy.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-48474015720618506502010-11-20T20:15:00.000-08:002010-11-20T20:15:03.450-08:00How easy can it get?So if your anything like me you keep anything and everything of value and sell it only when it makes you the most gold. As may be true on other servers one of the hardest items to sell at times is Chilled Meat.

Well all that is changing with Pilgrim's Bounty which starts here in a few hours. The Holiday itself doesn't require chilled meat but it does give everyone the opportunity to level cooking to 350. Many people will continue to level cooking after and the easiest thing to make is Northern Stew. The only ingredient for these is Chilled Meat. Now for those who didn't know about this opportunity already it may be to late to raid your Auction House for cheap Chilled Meat. If you do not happen to be one of the people who refuses to farm the Gorillas in Sholazar Basin provide the best opportunity.

It isn't too late to stock up for Winter Vail however. Wile this holiday may receive some changes I'm guessing most of it will still be the same. The main item you will want to stock up on is small eggs. These are needed to make Gingerbread Cookies. Next you would want to stock up on the different materials to make the Winter Garb pieces. I'm going to just list the Green recipes but the items are the same for the Red as well.
Tailors: Pattern: Green Winter Clothes
Leather Workers: Pattern: Winter Boots

Also Winter Vail may provide you with an opportunity to stock up on some limited recipes that you may be able to sell to collectors and completionists a few months down the road. People completing the quest chain will receive Smokywood Pastures Special Gift. A number of items can be looted all of which can and will be sold on the Auction House. These Items will tank in price during the Holiday and easily be snatched up at minimum prices allowing substantial room for markup down the road. Wile I wouldn't suggest stockpiling a ton of these if the prices do manage to dip low enough on your server feel free to go nuts as these may pay off down the road if a Goblin or Worgen created after Winter Veil wants some of these items for themselves.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-88555134837224638522010-11-19T17:45:00.000-08:002010-11-19T17:45:40.930-08:00I has nothing ... As of right now Sellers is now trading Blackfallow ink for the lesser inks instead of IotS on the PTR. Wile this may very well be changed before the patch goes live I wouldn't want to count on this. Plan to change your ink over before next Tuesday if you have not been doing it already.

The shattering will also see the disappearance of Zul Gurub, The Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj, and the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj. So if you want the achievements this week might be your last chance to get them.

Personally I have been running around with a couple guildies exploring every nook and cranny of the old world we can before it's changed forever. We have been killing the world dragons as fast as we can find them and I've been lucky to obtain a couple patterns that will be worth a lot. Outside of these dragons there is no effective way to farm Vanilla world drops. So it can be assumed that without these dragons these drops will become even more rare so take a peak.

Just a thought will our beloved battlegrounds receive any makeovers or will they somehow by untouched by Deathwing's wrath?Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945422486468686959.post-24377011657876061002010-11-17T18:23:00.000-08:002010-11-17T18:23:15.403-08:00Why Saronite Ore?

So if your the type who has been stockpiling you have no doubt been trying to figure out what and why to stockpile. Ink of the Sea and the other inks you trade it for are an obvious choice for scribes as their goods are needed by everyone at least once. Other than the ink what else would be worth our time to stockpile? Enchanting mats are one possibility but the market on these will be very volatile with the LFD tool and I wouldn't want to sink a ton of gold here only to find the demand more than keeps up with supply. Basically outside of inscription I don't see any security stockpiling something that doesn't give you more then 1 or 2 options of how you sell off your supply. So whats this magical item that gives us almost endless possibilities of how we can sell it off? Well if you read the Title of this post you would know it to be Saronite Ore.

First off look at the price of saronite ore on your server. It is highly likely there are a large number of posts at 12.5g a stack or less every day. Now think about this if the price is 12.5g for a stack of ore you could turn these into bars and vendor them for the exact amount you paid. Therefor any ore you get under this price can be smelted and vendored for pure profit. Granted you are making very little profit and smelting a considerable number of bars takes time. The point here is if every other way you can sell the saronite off becomes unprofitable you can simply smelt and recoup your gold spent losing only your time invested.

First there is the ore itself some jewelers will buy stacks to prospect. Others with miners may buy it to smelt fueling other professions. Selling off Saronite this way however I don't believe will be the best way as the ones buying it will be the penny pinchers looking to save every copper coin they can and unless you provide them dirt cheap saronite they are likely going to farm saronite for themselves.

Then there are saronite bars. These bars are needed by blacksmiths, and engineers for skill ups. They are also going to be very useful to any Alchemist as Transmute Titanium will provide easy skill ups all the way to 425 where Illustrious Grandmaster recipes start.

If you have a Jeweler you also have the option of prospecting and selling off the gems. Now if you go this route you want to focus on the prices of the uncommon gems primarily the 4 you can craft the cheap rings and necks out of. Most people power level professions by seeing what they need to make a specific item. Because of this new Jewelers will look for the gems and not the ore they could prospect them from. Wile you may have some Alchemists buy a few to transmute Earthsiege Diamonds, not many will bother with these skillups. Rare gems are also needed to level up jewel crafting and they cutting these will get you to 425. Another thing to think about here is the fact that every rare cut is a vendor or drop. The alternative to these cuts is actually more expensive to make as it require the next item on the list.

Titanium Bars. If you have an Alchemist with a transmute spec you can transmute some of your saronite to titanium bars. Wile outside of the last few skill ups in jewel crafting and blacksmithing I don't see much use for titanium bars in leveling. However a blacksmith could continue to use them crafting shield spikes, weapon chains, and of course Titanium rods. Some people say creating titansteel may be a better bet but as eternal prices come down I'm actually stocking up on cheap titansteel to sell as well.

And lastly would be enchanting mats. Wile this market is the hardest to predict by having saronite ore stockpiled you will be ready to react if you find this market to be profitable. Remember the saronite shuffle? Well I believe it may very well make a small comeback in Cataclysm. Of course people who level enchanting wile they level that toon will be able to come across almost all the mats they need. Were targeting the ones who powerlevel a profession later. Unless they go back and solo instances or grind out quests they had not done yet they will not see near enough mats without hitting the Auction House.

Why not stockpile these specific things instead of keeping the saronite ore? Sure you could save some room to stockpile additional things but I like the idea that I can easily flex to the market or markets that provide the greatest potential benefit.Dizzyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01971018339608401265noreply@blogger.com4
